ChatGPT Setup Guide

Connect ChatGPT to RentPager in 5 minutes

Requires ChatGPT Plus ($20/month)

Before You Start

  • ✓ You need a ChatGPT Plus subscription ($20/month)
  • ✓ You need a RentPager account (landlord)
  • ✓ Takes about 5-10 minutes total

Generate Your API Key in RentPager
Create an API key from your RentPager dashboard
  1. Log in to RentPager and go to Settings → Developer
  2. Click "Create API Key"
  3. Name it: ChatGPT
  4. Select the permissions you want to grant (recommended: all for best experience)
  5. Click "Generate Key"
  6. Copy the key immediately - it won't be shown again!

Open RentPager Assistant
Use our pre-configured Custom GPT

We've already created and published the RentPager Assistant GPT for you. Just click the button below to open it.

Note: You must have ChatGPT Plus to use Custom GPTs

Enter Your API Key
Paste the API key you generated in Step 1
  1. The first time you use RentPager Assistant, it will ask for your API key
  2. Paste the key you copied from Step 1
  3. ChatGPT will securely save it for future conversations
  4. That's it! Start asking questions about your properties

All Done!

You can now manage your properties through ChatGPT. Try asking questions like "Who hasn't paid rent?" or "Create a maintenance ticket for broken AC".

Add Actions (API Integration)
Connect the GPT to RentPager's API
  1. Scroll down to the "Actions" section
  2. Click "Create new action"
  3. For "Authentication", select "API Key"
  4. Choose "Custom" header
  5. Enter header name:
    Authorization
  6. Enter header value:
    Bearer YOUR_API_KEY_HERE

    Replace YOUR_API_KEY_HERE with the key you copied in Step 1

  7. For "Schema", click "Import from URL" and paste:
    https://rentpager.com/api/ai/openapi.json
  8. Click "Import" - this will load all available RentPager actions

Save and Test
Publish your GPT and try it out
  1. Click "Save" in the top right
  2. Choose "Only me" (private) or share with others
  3. Click "Confirm"
  4. Your GPT is now ready! Try asking: "Show me my properties"

All Done!

You can now manage your properties through ChatGPT. Try asking questions like "Who hasn't paid rent?" or "Create a maintenance ticket for broken AC".

Troubleshooting

Getting "Invalid API Key" errors?

• Make sure you copied the full API key including the "rp_live_" prefix

• Check that your Authorization header is: Bearer rp_live_...

• Verify the API key is still active in your RentPager Settings

GPT says it can't access RentPager?

• Check that you imported the OpenAPI schema correctly

• Make sure the Authentication is set to "API Key" with custom header "Authorization"

• Try regenerating your API key and updating it in the GPT settings
